Simplicity above all else

ALPA is much more than a camera. It is a modular platform containing six camera models, with dozens of high quality lenses and an extensive selection of accessories. It consists of a variety of viewfinders, adapters for film up to 6×9 format and adapters to connect to the most common digital backs.

ALPA has always been known to scholars of photographic technologies as one of the world's leading brands. The reputation is now based on six camera models, all designed with the highest possible mechanical precision. Their versatility and reduction to the essentials appeals to all those photographers who wish to leave the world of compromise above the instruments they use, those who seek unrestricted access to their creativity.

Which model to use in each case?

Those who like or need the technical quality of a high-end digital back or large format film up to 6×9, but need to travel light and work fast will appreciate the ALPA 12 TC, ALPA 12 WA and ALPA 12 SWA the most.

They are the easiest ALPA cameras to carry not only with lightweight lenses, but can follow the strictest limits for travel bags. Ergonomic handgrips and a very smooth instant shutter release contribute to superior quality of freehand shots.

Where complex camera settings such as panning (perspective control) used simultaneously in both directions with off-centre/tilt (focus control zone) are used from the tripod, but where freehand shooting is required, the ALPA 12 MAX can offer a flexible solution. Even when working entirely from a tripod, the ALPA 12 XY is in its element, adding the capability of panning movements that are limited only by the valid image circle sizes of each lens.

The ALPA 12 MAX and ALPA 12 XY offer the possibility of digital stitching, without the slightest movement of the lens during panning. This is necessary to avoid perspective shifts and is an indispensable feature to avoid unwanted stereoscopic effects. Of the sixth model, the ALPA 12 METRIC, it should also be mentioned that it is used in digital photogrammetry, i.e. for photographic computer support measuring in cartography and many other scientific and industrial applications.
