It includes:

1x Levelling mirror VALOI

This mirror was custom made for us: 1 circle of 100 mm diameter, with 6 mm thick glass and safety edges to prevent you from cutting yourself. It has no frame, so the perfect flatness of the mirror is preserved.

A mirror is an essential tool for scanning film, regardless of the rest of your setup. It will help you see very accurately if your scanning system is out of alignment and help you easily adjust it for perfect results every time.

This mirror was specifically tested and approved by VALOI and is well made, and most importantly, it is flat on the back.

To level your camera using a mirror:

• Be prepared to scan with all the right things in the right place.
• Place the VALOI levelling mirror on its full configuration (on top of its support).
• Your camera should now "see itself".
• Activate live view on your camera/look through the viewfinder and focus on the front of the lens.
• Adjust the camera position (tilt and pan) until the centre of the camera screen/viewfinder is in the centre of the lens reflex aperture. The film and camera are perfectly parallel when the centre of the camera sensor sees the centre of the reflected aperture.
• (If you have the Advancer or the 104 adapter, use the levelling feet to make micro-adjustments for a perfect result).
• Make sure you don't change anything, remove the mirror, refocus the film and scan the images.
• We recommend that you recheck with this procedure each time you start scanning and during a longer scanning session.
